Alimony

Alimony & Your Financial Future

Your financial situation changes after a divorce. Even if your husband or wife has a full-time job, they may ask for spousal support. Both people need to understand how much they will either pay or receive before they can map out their new budget. In Florida, alimony awards are based on someone’s need and the other person’s ability to pay. When determining alimony, the courts will consider:

  • Standard of living before the divorce
  • Each spouse’s assets
  • Each spouse’s ability to earn money in the future
  • What each spouse contributed to the marriage
  • How long the couple was married

Allow C. Alvarez Law to take on the legal aspects of your divorce (such as alimony), so you can focus on healing and being present for your children. We have extensive experience with these issues, and we will guide you through them.
